Relationships between ghrelin concentration in blood and growth and physical activity in children

Abstract:
The biochemical markers that influence the growth of children have not been investigated much. The main goal of the present study is to investigate the relationships between novel peptide hormone ghrelin and anthropometrical characteristics, body composition, physical activity and aerobic working capacity, also to examine the adaptation to aerobic work and weight training in boys with different level of biological maturation and physical activity. Biochemical markers in blood will be handled comprehensively – the levels of ghrelin, leptin, growth hormone, insulin, testosterone, IGF-1, IGBP-1 and glycose will be measured. We assume that from the anthropometrical characteristics the correlations will be significant with skinfold thicknesses and girths, most precise still being the endomorph component of the somatotype. Adaptation to 60-minute physical work on the veloergometer at the individual anaerobic treshold level and circuit weght training might be rather different, since the level of ghrelin concentration in blood differs about 2 times in boys with differents level of biological maturation (Tanner stages 1 and 5). Changes depend pretty much on the level of training.
